In the present work a systematic methodology for computing dynamic output stabilizing feedback control laws for nonlinear systems subject to saturating inputs is presented. In particular, the class of Lur'e type nonlinear systems is considered. Based on absolute stability tools and a modified sector condition to take into account input saturation effects, an \{LMI\} framework is proposed to design the controller. Asymptotic as well as input-to-state and input-to-output (in a L2 sense) stabilization problems are addressed both in regional (local) and global contexts. The controller structure is composed of a linear part, an anti-windup loop and a term associated to the output of the dynamic nonlinearity. Convex optimization problems are proposed to compute the controller considering different optimization criteria. A numerical example illustrates the potentialities of the methodology.

Argumento forjado, certamente, com boa dose de ironia e ânimo polemista contra um objetor que se diz defensor do cartesianismo, e, portanto, em certa medida contra Descartes. Apresentar um argumento que envolva a referência a situações oníricas contra a concepção cartesiana de liberdade como poder dos contrários é, certamente, pretender fazer o feitiço virar contra o feiticeiro. No entanto, para além desse encanto particular e quase anedótico, creio que esse argumento contribui com um bom ponto à inesgotável discussão sobre a natureza da liberdade, debate caro às inquietações filosóficas do nosso querido amigo. Ponto para cuja elucidação espero poder contar com sua ajuda, pois, como se poderá ver na sequência, minha compreensão do argumento é ainda bastante preliminar. Duas traduções porque as cartas onde esse argumento muito provavelmente surgiu pela primeira vez não contam ainda, até onde eu saiba, com uma tradução para a língua portuguesa que permita um acesso mais fácil ao pensamento do filósofo. Data-driven methodologies have recently emerged as an important paradigm alternative to model-based controller design and several such methodologies are formulated as an H2 performance optimization. This book presents a comprehensive theoretical treatment of the H2 approach to data-driven control design. The fundamental properties implied by the H2 problem formulation are analyzed in detail, so that common features to all solutions are identified. Direct methods (VRFT) and iterative methods (IFT, DFT, CbT) are put under a common theoretical framework. The choice of the reference model, the experimental conditions, the optimization method to be used, and several other designer?s choices are crucial to the quality of the final outcome, and firm guidelines for all these choices are derived from the theoretical analysis presented. The practical application of the concepts in the book is illustrated with a large number of practical designs performed for different classes of processes: thermal, fluid processing and electromechanical.

The design of Assistive Technology products has different technological routes such as massive products or custom products. These products aim at optimize the altered bodily functions. With that it can re-conduct these people to varied social activities. In this sense, the present article focuses on contribute in the construction of new technological routes for the manufacturing of wheelchair custom seats. The methodology includes the application of concepts such as tridimensional digitizing, CNC machining and thermography. Those techniques have the purpose of generating and analyzing seats made from user’s anthropometric data.

We present general expressions for the components of the dielectric tensor of magnetized dusty plasmas, valid for arbitrary direction of propagation and for situations in which populations of dust particles of different sizes are present in the plasma. These expressions are derived using a kinetic approach which takes into account the variation of the charge of the dust particles due to inelastic collisions with electrons and ions, and features the components of the dielectric tensor in terms of a finite and an infinite series, containing all effects of harmonics and Larmor radius, and is valid for the whole range of frequencies above the plasma frequency of the dust particles, which are assumed to be motionless. The integrals in velocity space which appear in the dielectric tensor are solved assuming that the electron and ion populations are described by anisotropic non-thermal distributions characterized by parameters κ ∥ and κ ⊥ , featuring the Maxwellian as a limiting case. These integrals can be written in terms of generalized dispersion functions, which can be expressed in terms of hypergeometric functions. The formulation therefore becomes specially suitable for numerical analysis.
