Dr. Otávio Bianchi, a Chemical Engineer, graduated from the University of Caxias do Sul in 2007. He obtained his DSc. in Material Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2011. Dr. Bianchi has an impressive academic and research background, including visiting researcher positions at the University of Minho in Portugal from 2015 to 2016 and the Luleå University of Technology in Sweden from 2021 to 2022. Currently, Dr. Bianchi serves as a professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, working in both the DEMAT and PPGE3M departments. He also actively collaborates with the Graduate Programs in Engineering and Materials Science (PGMAT) at the University of Caxias do Sul. With expertise in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Dr. Bianchi focuses on polymer-related research and applications. His primary research interests encompass polymer reactions, synthesis, and characterization of polymers via reactive processing, as well as polymer reactions utilizing dielectric heating. Additionally, he specializes in the preparation of hybrid polyhedral nanoparticles and investigates reaction kinetics using thermoanalytical methods. Dr. Bianchi holds significant editorial roles, serving as the Editor of the journal Scientia cum Industria and as a member of the editorial boards of Polymer Testing and Heliyon. He is an active contributor to the scientific community and holds a position on the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Polymers (ABPOL). Furthermore, he previously coordinated the 15th Brazilian Congress on polymers, demonstrating his leadership and organizational skills within his field. To further contribute to the advancement of engineering in Brazil, Dr. Bianchi also serves as a member of the FAPERGS advisory committee in the engineering area. Overall, Dr. Bianchi possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of Chemical Engineering and Material Sciences. His dedication to research, teaching, and his extensive involvement in various professional organizations highlights his commitment to advancing the understanding and application of polymers in engineering and materials science.
