Bio Sketch

  • Previous positions at UFRGS (since 1994): member of the Board of Trustees; member of the Research Chamber; Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Applied Mathematics; member of Board of the Elected Lecturers Representatives of the Department and Institute of Mathematics. 
  • Previous experience:  Faculty member (1987-1994) at the Federal University of Santa Maria, RS, Brasil. 
  • Positions at National and State Foundations: an advisory member of the CAPES of Brasil, (higher education personnel) on several occasions; member of national evaluation committees of Graduate Programs, respectively, in the fields of Mathematics (2017), Engineering (2013), and Interdisciplinary (2008); member (2003-2005) and also as a Coordinator (2005-2007) of the Mathematical and Computation Committee of the State of Rio Grande do Sul Research Foundation (FAPERGS). 
  • Education:  teaching license in Mathematics from the Federal University of Santa Maria, 1983, MSc in Mathematics, 1988, and DSc in Mechanical Engineering, 1992, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil; Post-doctoral project, 1995-1996  at the Mathematics Department of  North Carolina State University, USA. 
  •  Visiting professor/researcher: Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University (NCSU/USA); Department of Nuclear Engineering, (NCSU/USA). Recently selected to develop a visiting researcher program at the Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, promoted by  Genie: Gender Initiative for Excellence. The initiative is funded by the Chalmers University of Technology Foundation.
