Álvaro Krüger Ramos

I am currently an Associate Professor (permanent faculty) at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. I am a member of the Graduate Program in Mathematics, where I am a principal investigator, responsible for advising PhD students and conducting research in Differential Geometry. I also have a CNPq research productivity grant (1-B) until August 2030.

Research interests: Differential Geometry, with focus on minimal and constant mean curvature surfaces in 3-manifolds and some Geometric Topology.

Ongoing research projects:

A geometria de superfícies mínimas e de curvatura média constante imersas em certas variedades de dimensão 3 (The geometry of minimal and constant mean curvature surfaces immersed in certain 3-manifolds) – Research project at UFRGS. Role: Principal investigator, PhD advisor.

Surfaces with constant mean curvature 1/2 in $\mathbb{H}^2\times \mathbb{R}$. (with Laurent Hauswirth, Université Gustave Eiffel, France.) Funded by CNPq/Brazil grant 442312/2023-7 and by CIMPA/ICTP Research in Pairs Program 2022.

CMC surfaces in $\mathbb{H}^2\times \mathbb{R}$ and in $\mathbb{S}^2\times \mathbb{R}$ (with William Meeks III, UMass, Amherst, USA.)

Properly embedded CMC surfaces in $S\times \mathbb{S}^1$, $S$ a hyperbolic surface of finite area (with Ana Maria Menezes, Princeton University, USA.)

Rotators/translators to the mean curvature flow in product spaces. (with Ronaldo de Lima, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, João Paulo dos Santos, Universidade de Brasília, Brazil and Giuseppe Pipoli, Università degli Studi dell’Aquila, Italy.)
